Morning Musings 1.17.25 SCOTUS OK with TikTok Ban

The Supreme Court has ruled that it’s totally ok to shut down a Chinese company for doing the same thing American companies do all the time. This aspect of the TikTok drama was not widely referenced in the news, as far as I can tell.

It’s particularly frustrating for those of us who have had our content perform better on the TikTok platform than on any America-based platforms, thanks to TikTok’s proprietary algorithm.

So, at the end of the day, this ends up feeling, to me, less like “keeping America safe” and more like “keeping American tech companies safe.”
